LuxHyVal awarded major public funding to drive green hydrogen production in Luxembourg

We are proud to announce that LuxHyVal has been selected as one of the two flagship projects to receive public funding under Luxembourg’s first national call for renewable hydrogen projects—marking a decisive step forward for the country’s clean energy transition.

On May 26, 2025, the Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg revealed the results of this historic funding call, which was launched in October 2024 with a total envelope of €110 million. Designed to support renewable hydrogen production and accelerate industrial decarbonization, the call represents a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to phasing out fossil fuels through innovative, sustainable solutions.

LuxHyVal, presented by Enovos S.A. as project lead in Luxembourg, was selected alongside ECHO-WAVE (Energiwiss Kielen SARL). Together, the two projects will receive up to €47 million in State Aid, a powerful signal of governmental support for the hydrogen economy. The funding will support both capital expenditures (up to 45%) and operational costs (up to €7 per kilogram of hydrogen), over a period of up to ten years.

LuxHyVal’s project will deploy a 5 MW electrolysis capacity, enabling the production of green hydrogen at scale. This will effectively replace the majority of fossil-based hydrogen currently used in Luxembourg.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Ministère de l’Économie (Luxembourg) for their vision and continued support. We also commend the exceptional leadership of Enovos S.A., whose expertise was essential in leading the LuxHyVal funding application.

This funding represents a turning point, not just for our consortium, but for Luxembourg’s hydrogen future. As we look ahead, LuxHyVal remains committed to pioneering a sustainable, hydrogen-powered economy and helping to build the national infrastructure necessary to scale green hydrogen production and usage.
